The Thinking Ahead Academic Program is an innovative educational offering by the Institute for Strategy and Complexity Management (ISCM), aimed at preparing emerging leaders to navigate and manage complex strategic challenges. Introduced during ISCM’s 20th anniversary, the program reflects the Institute’s longstanding commitment to advancing resilience, foresight, and innovation in high-stakes environments.

At its foundation, this program empowers participants to explore potential futures through strategic scenario planning. By learning to evaluate the consequences of different choices, participants gain the skills necessary for effective, informed decision-making. The curriculum integrates ISCM’s award-winning tools—including the ViewPoint Model (VPM) and the Impact Analyzer—which are internationally recognized for their ability to simulate system behaviors, assess risk, and improve performance outcomes in real-world project environments.

Program Objectives

The Thinking Ahead Academic Program goes beyond teaching strategy—it encourages a forward-thinking
mindset rooted in global responsibility. Participants will learn to:

Understand Complex Systems:

Analyze and model the dynamic interactions within major infrastructure and investment projects.

Encourage Cross-Sector Collaboration:

Engage with stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society to create ESG-compliant, socially responsible solutions.

Cultivate Strategic Foresight:

Apply systems thinking to anticipate disruptions and guide long-term planning in uncertain environments.
